I'm heading up to Dallas tomorrow night to go visit my sister and have some R&R. I've been planning to visit her since January.

Then this message appears in the email inbox at work today:

Subject: Saturday Overtime
Importance: High

All,

Due to the fact that we continue to have significant backlogs in all
queues, we are requiring that everyone, including management, work a
minimum of six hours this Saturday. Shifts can begin as early as 7:30
a.m. and as late as 9:00 a.m. Pizza will be provided for everyone. We
apologize for the late notice, however, we must take immediate action to
minimize losses that may result from the excessive holdover.

QSS began training other associates on Roster processing yesterday.
The training will continue for the next three weeks. These resources will
eventually assist in alleviating the excessive holdover. However, until
that occurs, you may anticipate required overtime during the week and on
Saturdays.

Additionally, if anyone is interested in working on Sunday, please speak
with your supervisor.

Once again, thank you for the continued support as we move through this
transition.

...Gary

Oh no, this is not going to happen. I stormed to my boss's office and announced that I had already made plans. I will not be in the Saturday. Gina reluctantly gave the day to me. Sure, I'll be looked at for not coming in on Saturday, but hell, I don't get paid for overtime, they know they have me over a barrel, most times. I'm already not much help, and Saturday would only make my attitude worse.

And working Sunday too? Not on your life.

After saying I was going to do it, and procrastinating. I'm reworking the resume. Perhaps St. Cloud Minnesota is the way to go.
