Beautiful Day
Nov. 17th, 2002 03:39 pmYesterday was sooo nice! It was actually a bit cold for Texas, with highs in the 60's. Still, not enough to keep me and several thousand others from hitting the highway for the Texas Ren-Fest. I had good fun with the Blands, and enjoyed walking around on my own as well.
I spent way too much. I do tip the performers, plus I bought my Kilt - truly expensive. I will have it for Scarbourogh (the Dallas area festival) this Spring. I also picked up another nice shirt from the House of Dra, where one of John Bland's freind works. Cortland is a graphic designer who now lives in San Fran with his man. He's also a Mac fan. As I bought my shirt, it was late in the evening, and many people had left, or were just waiting for the fireworks, so we spoke for a while. He did tell me of his new website, iCourtland.com, but unfortunately he's not on LiveJournal. John B. and family were already gone, since John fell ill and the kids, Marshall and Chyanne were cranky. Dawn, their mom, was grateful for my help in taking care of the wagon Marshall was riding in, but she was pretty tired too.
The last couple of years the best thing has been the Fakesperian troupe, Sound and Fury (as seen at SoundandFury.org). I saw both of this year's presentations, Testiclease and the Sack of Rome, and Romeo & Juliet 2.0. Lots of fun.
I arrived at the park around 10:30, and left at 7:30. The only problem, is when the park closes, the traffic is horrendous. Country roads aren't made for that kind of abuse.
