The End of Summer
Oct. 21st, 2004 11:27 pmRed Sox Nation taks about the curse and how tough it is to go so long with out a championship. Man, You've been to plenty of World Series in the last 100 years, so sorry that you didn't win them.
Try rooting for a team that has never been to the World Series, not in your life time, hell, not in the team's lifetime, and once again you lose and there's no ghosts of goats or overweight italian outfielders to blame it on.
It's Fucking Hard To Be A Houston Astros Fan!
I do have to say that despite the disappointment, I do have to say, if you told me even four weeks ago that this team would have won a playoff series for the very first time and made it to game seven of the National League Championship series, I would be thrilled, and I still am. Hell, we were five under .555 at the All-Star Break and things looked hopeless, but the team turned it around and won the Wild Card, creating a pretty impossible season.
Then we ran into a St. Louis Buzzsaw. Yikes. In the last innings, it seemed like nothing went right, and it turned from heart attack to heart ache once again, just like 1980, '86, the '94 strike year, '97, '98, '99, '01 well, you know.
The off season will have a lot of trouble as many players will have contract signings ahead. who knows if we'll be able to keep some of the players who made such an impact, and some are reaching the end of their careers. Still, it's been one hellofa ride!

Thanks to Jerry (
goofyfag) and his friend Dee for use of their place to watch the game. I'm glad i wasn't alone!
Now, let's go RED SOX!

And here in the SF Bay Area...
Date: 2004-10-22 12:06 am (UTC)I say Hurray for the Astros, Cards, Sox and Yanks for giving us the most exciting, nail-biting playoff season EVER. I was rooting for a Sox-Astro series, but in any case I doubt the WS itself will be this good.

Date: 2004-10-22 07:52 pm (UTC)The Cardinals have this weird habit of either A) blowing it completely or B) coming from behind out of nowhere.
When we made it to Game 7, there was no doubt which way it would go here. (Granted, I still think it's fixed, but that's another post entirely.)
I do admit though. Some of the Astros' players are MIGHTY fine!
