eggwards: (Green Xmas)

The party's over. The Team's party went off well. Marvin brought plenty of home brew (and it was good! A Lager and an Ale) Gina brought Jello shots there was much more liquor going around as gifts in the White Elephant game. Unfortunately I ended up with Cajun Hot Sauce - not the best gift I've ever received.

No one got extremely drunk. Many of them have to go to work tomorrow, leaving them to be more cautious. Personally I got buzzed pretty good, but didn't make a fool of myself. One of the gifts that was going around was this small oil barrel looking can of liquor that was German. The label on the barrel was "Rohol" - which roughly translates to Raw Oil if my German's up to speed. The dark liquid has a very minty taste. It was much smoother than Jaeger or Goldschlager. Very interesting.

The odd things about the party seemed to revolve about my continuing coming out party at work. While I'm making the assumption that most people already know my orientation, I've never made the big announcement in a broadcast (So you're wondering why I called all of you here). I'm never quite sure who knows what and what reactions are going to come around. Everyone brought food - an there was quite a lot! I brought two pies to the party, one apple and a French Silk Chocolate from Houston's own House of Pies (or the Montrose area location, House of Guys). I go out to the patio at Andy's house and announce "If anyone would like to grab a piece of pie, there's some available. the titters began immediately, and then Jeff says quite loudly, "That's right, you're not into pie!" I stood there stunned for a moment, and then laughed a little. I really don't care about it much, I just haven't really heard a comment like that out in the open. It was really weird.

The other odd thing was Ed. He used to work on the team, then went to supervise his own area. He seemed hell-bent on "outing" me. Not so much in the real sense, but to tell another one of the former members of the team, Matt, that I really was attracted to him (not that I could have done anything about it when he was on my team). I guess I had made a mistake telling Ed this some time ago. Matt's straight, and I really don't know what his reactions would have been, but I had to tell Ed to keep it to himself. I'm not going to go announcing my attractions all over the company! I don't know what Ed was trying to do. I could only see it leading to trouble.

Makes me wonder just what kind of rumors are going around. I hate when people just talk around you. Get some guts people, if you want to know, ask the source - me. I'll tell you the truth.

Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow. I'm off to Dallas to see my sister. I'd love to meet one of my LiveJournal buddies, but I don't know if I'll have time.

BTW, welcome to [livejournal.com profile] endogenousardor and [livejournal.com profile] mondobear!

I smite you, pie lover!

Ha! That would have been the comeback for the ages! Why am I not that clever?

I guess I felt that the people who know, get it, and the people who don't will just think it was a drunk Jeff talking. It's not so different from the smack that goes around for our fantasy football league (though usually not about each other's personal character).

It's just about getting comfortable with myself. This was the first work party that I didn't try playing the pronoun game when talking about John T, too. Big change there.

Hugs back!

I thought I added you a couple of weeks back, when you first showed up on my friends list. I guess LJ had other ideas, or my gray roots are penetrating down into my gray matter.

Is there something special about pie? Is it a euphemism that I've totally missed all my life? I don't get it! :-)

Pie, and sometimes a piece of pie can be a euphamism for women's genatailia. Sometimes also used as "gettin' a piece"

I think pie comes not from the movie "American Pie" but from the triangle shape of a woman's lower abdomen.

Thus endeth the lesson. :-)
