Well, home again after a long day at work. Apparently a lot of people not only miss the tax deadline for the IRS, but neglect to send in time-sensitive things to their friendly financial services company on-time here too. Oh well, nothing we can do about it. Mail gets to us when it gets to us. It just makes for a very long Monday.
Of course I was tired from driving back from Dallas. Another one of those weekends. I guess I could have started a little earlier, but I really did want to see what likely will be the last episode of Arrested Development. I love that show, and sorry that other people can't see that it's certainly better than most anything else on, certainly what's on in it's timeslot. Oh well, just another show killed by Fox because it didn't have enough appeal to an 18 year old.
Otherwise, there was a nice dinner for Skye (
cristalskye) that I didn't realize on Friday was supposed to be a surprise party. Luckily I didn't know too many of the details, so my message of "see you on Saturday" just looked perplexing, and didn't give anything away. Of course the biggest surprise was that Clint, her beau has quietly flown in from Denver from his business trip to be there that evening, and she didn't know about it. Of course, she just thought she would be having dinner with Cole, but ended up with 16 of her friends. very cool.
Chris (yes, the user name is
f__k) is doing a lot with his softball team. He had practice on Saturday, then the game on Sunday. The game wasn't exactly a fun one to watch, but I took some pictures. Chris had a pretty good hit, but it wasn't enough to win the game.
Matty (
mattycub) is trying to make everyone a convert to America's Next Top Model. I'm not sure if I'm totally convinced that I need to be watching this, but I might check in now and again. I think I actually saw the best show of the series with the Tyra Tantrum (see the title of this post), so there really may not be any other reason to watch. It was fun watching with Richard (
dedagda) and Chris (
amboy00), and our surprise guest star, Jeff (
jeffbear63).
Otherwise, my good friend John (
blithwulf) asked me some questions from that meme that's going around, so I should answer them...(I'd just like to say that John's a very difficult interviewer)
1.) On your friends list, pick 4 people that you would like to have sex with.
Since you didn't qualify, I'm going to take out anyone I may have encountered, so it becomes a little, embarrassing wish list, because that's what you really want, isn't it? This is by no means complete, and hopefully won't embarrass anyone but myself, but I'll choose:
ericdabear,
nfotxn,
furrytxcub, and
thereisnofear. Wouldn't you?
2.) Since coming out, what would you say has been the greatest challenge you've had to face?
Not turning tail and running back. I know that sounds flippant, but in a way the whole thing has really dredged up several problems that I've had with interpersonal interaction that have become more pronounced the last couple of years. It was easy to be closeted and not deal with anyone new, not dealing with people, but to get involved with a new life and the people who share that new life and new community with you you have to get involved with them.
It's very interesting that my curiosity helped me break some barriers for a while, but I do seem to be falling back into some of that...like not going out on weekends here at home in Houston. Houston seems to be a shut-in city - at least it's easy for me to make excuses.
So, I guess it's hard to take chances at times, and perhaps this needs more navel-gazing later.
3.) If you could be anywhere, doing anything right at this moment, what would it be?
I guess I have this proposed trip to California coming up this summer, so I've been daydreaming about it a lot. Chris will be showing me around the Bay Area and all. I'd just like that to hurry up and get here.
4.) What do you think are your 3 best qualities mentally and emotionally?
Heh. Well, lately I'm not so sure. I used to think I was clever and took to change easily, but actually, I seem not to do the latter so well. The former, maybe. I guess I still have a youthful outlook that keeps me optimistic at times where others might not - It's certainly not something that's always true to form, and sometimes my cynicism does lead to some rather negative views on things, but on the whole, I do think things will eventually turn out OK.
So, three - cynicism mixed with optimism that keeps a youthful outlook - that's three. All of those things keep me curious about people, places, policics and the world, which is a good thing.
5.) Here's a tough one. Same as #4, but from a physical standpoint?
Ahh, here's something I'm not as easily optimistic about, but yet, just this morning there was a totally unexpected comment telling me that the wanted to be as hot as I...wow, that was unexpected. So there must be something.
I'll go with calves, eyes and hair? nose? I don't know - help me out here!
If you'd like a few questions of your own, well, you know the drill, I'll dole some out tomorrow night when I have the time!
