In a world of broken dreams

I'm Thankful for:

Friends who take you into thier family (and have a fantastic traditional dinner)
Kids that you can have a lot of fun with - then give back
Good Music (the new 3 Doors Down, Matchbox 20 and David Grey)
A car (my Nissan XTerra) that's reliable
The resturant that would still let me and my parents eat, despite the fact that they were closing
NFL Football and a Changing Rooms marathon to distract me from my mother
That their aren't really big giant car bows for gift cars, are there?
That I still have a job, and I like it (despite that I have to work Friday)
That I no longer work retail
LiveJournal, my newest obsession (and I hope I'm not making too much of an ass of myself)
The Stars at night (are big and bright, Deep in the Heart of...)
Texas and the US (though Canada is cool too)
Great weather and heaters
and lastly, the Unknown and the adventure it will bring.

Deck the halls with wall-to-wall shoppers.

Today's the biggest shopping day of the year. Stores go all out to get people in for this one big day - and like sheep, people fall for it, then appear all pissed off about the crowds.

What the hell did you expect?

I worked that day for 11 years, from high school, to college, and after. From Mervyn's to Samsonite to Target. I refuse to do it again (my current job being non-retail means calm and serenity today). I also refuse to put any other human being in that hell to help me on this day - no shopping for me.


I got a call from my fraternity big brother Sean who's in town! It's off to Buffalo Wild Wings for some trivia and wings!
