The Two Towers
So I saw the movie and it is in-cred-i-ble! I loved it. All of those History Channel specials about medieval warfare came into play. Matt and Lisa enjoyed it, but I don't think they got as much out of it. I was just enthralled by the grandure of it all.
As I drove them back to my place, we talked about the movie trailers - which all seemed to be Summer movies. Is nothing good about the movies of the next few moths? Then we started discussing the movie itself. We talked about New Zealand and Gollum and the production. Then I said:
"Couldn't you see it in his eyes? Sam, just damn well KISS HIM!"
Needless to say, the car fell silent.
Really, since I live in a world where men can fall in love, date and even marry, this isn't an abnormal reaction to the closeness of these two characters, Frodo and Sam, right? Yes, I know it's not written that way and I am putting some of my interest in Sean Astin in the mix.
Matt and Lisa know the score, but now I'm wondering. What happens when I introduce a boyfriend to them? are they just going to freak? They are so sheltered by their church and community.
Just an observation - I'm not worried about it.

He can be my Sam anytime!

Might rattle them some.
"As the big, gay ambassador I'd like to welcome you to fairyland! Yee-haw!" (just to butch it up some)
Agreed with being scared myself. Took me a looong time before I could say that I was gay, then telling the friends...

In fact so much of this movie is in the eyes of the characters. Lots of long stares and such.
Re:
Eternal damnation from Fantasy Orgies
Sam may just as well kiss him, though... although there's no mention of homosexuality in the books, their world is a more enlightened one where men are not afaid to show open affection. As one of my straight friends says, "Come here and give me a manly hug/kiss."
Hans, what a cutie...Sean Astin has alway been hot...Peter Jackson--what a bear! Straight men -- what a waste of manhood! An orgy with all of them? Me included (I'm not that kind of guy, or am I?)...everyone jump in! Invite Matt and Lisa to watch and learn. I know I'm bad...and I'm headed for eternal damnation.

But what a way to go - mentally.

Last night they had the return to Middle Earth special on TV about the behind the scene look at the movie. They looked like they had soooo much fun filming it.
