Nibbling on Bacon, Chewin' on Cheese...

Just a few things going on...

1. The new desk, that I've been in a little more than a month, is situated near Gena (pronounced Jean-ah). Gena is a little dingy. She asked why we had to make callouts to get addresses for clients who's mail has been returned to us by the postoffice for bad addresses. She looked at me and asked, "Why can't we just send a letter?"

*sigh*

After explaining the problem in that, she started talking about a song called "Muskrat, Muskrat". I asked her (and I don't know why I did) do you mean "Muskrat Love", by the Captain and Tennile? Yep, that's the one she meant. She asked, "Why would anyone sing a song about muskrats?" Why indeed. She expressed that she liked the song, but didn't understand it. I deadpanned, "I think it's about a couple of muskrats in love." The group around me laughed.

We continued to talk about awful songs, as Marvin asked me if the Captain and Tennille sang "Afternoon Delight." I said, "no, that was the Starland Vocal Band's only hit, but you can hear a new version of it sung by Will Ferrell." Ahh, ultimate geek points! We continued to find out that Gena likes Neil Diamond, Wayne Newton and Tom Jones. I asked the mid-twenties girl if she was actually born in the correct generation. She didn't respond.

2. Big Ed returned from New Orleans, stating that it was slow on weekdays. Really? I thought the party never ended there. Still, i would like to go to Southern Decadence some day. Anyone know how expensive hotel rooms are that (Labor Day) weekend?

3. I'm catching up with some shows on Tivo and I watch the latest episode of Six Feet Under. This episode should have been named "David's a big Wuss". David, yep, the gay character, picks up a hitchhiker who really just wants to rob him and get some crack. So David, in some sort of shock, just lets himself be a victim. Come on, Jennifer Lopez has learned to box for less. Scene after scene, he doesn't drive off when his assailant gets out of the car. Doesn't punch him when he's not looking, and has plenty of chances to run for it, and doesn't. Yes, he was attracted to the guy, but you know, after i get hit and have a gun pointed at me, I'll be looking for an opportunity to get away. I know bullies. Talk of "one more thing and I'll stop" are complete lies. Dumb, David, dumb.

4. Apparently McDonalds doesn't have a dress code for it's drive-thru. How many people drive through Mickey-D's in the buff?

5. Lastly, HBO has a new series called Entourage. It's OK, doesn't seem too original, kind of a LA men's version of Sex In The City that's not so terribly outrageous. Some will be happy to see Jeremy Piven as the star's agent who often disagrees with the star's hanger's-on.

Really, there's only one thing I'm mildly interested in, and that's Turtle. I wanted to link to the photo, but HBO won't let me, so here's the link. It's not that his character is interesting, but he's cute. Don't think that will keep me watching, though.

True, David is a bit of a whiny bitch. Keith is a good character who has grown some since the first season, hard for a reoccurring player. Yeah, Keith will give him lots of grief about it, and David will probably go to some self defense classes.

I just kept yelling at the screen each time I saw an opportunity for David to get the upper hand. Too many Hollywood pictures.

Yeah, I was really annoyed at David for being such a pushover. I have read that this episode is supposed to change his character permanently and that there will be big ripples, so I kind of hope it leads him to be more assertive and stand up for himself. I've heard he will be having panic attacks in the aftermath. I really hope it doesn't turn him into a quivering wreck of a human.

Oh yeah, and Keith is definitely becoming one of my favorite guys on the show. He's changed a lot and the actor playing him always keeps it interesting and believable.
